Whether you’re just starting your accessibility journey or you’re looking for the best way to up your accessibility game, here’s a list of some of my favorite resources!
WCAG Guidelines
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) cover a broad range of topics and can be a little overwhelming to dig into, so I suggest using these guides to start out:
WCAG Compliance Checklist by The A11y Project – a great place to start!
Writing for Web Accessibility by the Web Accessibility Initiative
Designing for Web Accessibility by the Web Accessibility Initiative
Color Contrast
Color contrast can be complicated, but these tools make it easier.
Contrast Checker – great for comparing colors on a variety of different standards, but don’t get too overwhelmed; AA is a good level of contrast for most websites
Accessible Color Generator – a great tool for when you want to know what the closest accessible version of a color is
Coolers – great for making color palettes, but also for seeing how your colors look with varying types of color blindness
Other Resources
Web Accessibility Evaluation Tools (WAVE) – a great multi-purpose accessibility checker
The A11y Project Resources List
The Photosensitive Epilepsy Analysis Tool (PEAT)
